You know that carriage stop system they built into these lathes? Well, I found something they're actually good for. I converted it to a clutch and brake system. The two gears? It rotated the wrong way for what I was trying to do. I wanted up for clutch, and down for brake.

Locking detent to keep clutch engaged.

Clutch is a belt tensioner. It lifts the motor 1/4 inch when engaged.

Hydraulic cylinder (Nissan 4x4), actuated when lever is dropped.

Don't laugh!, this is the front disc brake from a KTM 250 motorcycle. the disc is mounted to the tapered browning hub in the pulley.

The caliper is mounted to the frame of the engine house.
